The Wigwam: Inside and Out by Taylor

Wigwams were used by the Mikmaq people for homes. In order to make the wigwams the Mikmaq people would gather five spruce poles and tie them together at the top with spruce roots. Then they spread them apart at the bottom so it is a cone shape. Then they used a loose wood hoop to put around the top to keep it from stretching any further. They also lathed the outside with birchbark from top to bottom. Last but not least they painted their spirit helpers on the outside with paint made of egg yolk and dirt.
